With his hypnotic drumming, which made Surnatural and his Magnetic Ensemble so successful, Antonin Leymarie relaunches his rhythmic and melodic trance venture as a quintet.Antonin Leymarie likes to venture down the fertile paths of musical exploration, which he willingly shares with a few intrepid companions. This is once again the case with this brand new group, which brings together Fabrizio Rat’s prepared piano, Clément Petit’s augmented cello, Maëlle Desbrosses’ expressive viola and Leïla Martial’s otherworldly voice. This combo is adept at using all the possibilities of sound transformation to create original rhythmic patterns, orchestrated with great simplicity of form to lend themselves to improvisation, and deliver disturbing, joyful or dark mantras that open the door to the imagination.Together, they create a vibrant, luminous and unruly space: the birthplace of Trouble.

With Trouble, Antonin Leymarie brings together five artists who enjoy challenging conventions and reinventing musical expression. The quintet crafts a sound that is in constant flux, with each instrument shifting from one role to another, transforming, stretching and doubling. We already had a chance to discover them when they left their residency at the Théâtre Silvia Monfort in June, offering a first glimpse of the power and finesse of this collective alchemy.
Here, rhythm becomes a moving matter, a meeting point between pulsation, abstraction and shared imagination. And while these first appearances have opened a door, much remains to be discovered: an expanding soundscape that never ceases to shift the listener’s perception and surprise.
