Formed in Leeds, UK, and led by drummer Tim Cook, their music reflects the diverse backgrounds at the core of the project, drawing on grooves and genres from the UK and around the world, including afrobeat, broken beat, jungle, jazz and grime.

TC & The Groove Family are a 10-piece collective whose music celebrates the coming together of cultures, and the community that music can provide for everyone. Formed in Leeds, UK, and led by drummer Tim Cook, their music reflects the diverse backgrounds at the core of the project, drawing on grooves and genres from the UK and around the world, including afrobeat, broken beat, jungle, jazz and grime.
Renowned for powerful live performances, they’ve graced stages at Glastonbury, WOMAD, We Out Here and Shambala, whilst selling out shows across the UK at iconic venues including London’s Jazz Café and Leeds’ Brudenell Social Club. They’ve also appeared alongside acts like Nubiyan Twist, Yussef Dayes, Seun Kuti and Blue Lab Beats.
Their 2022 debut album First Home explored themes of belonging and community, whilst 2024 follow up EP ‘We Have Each Other’ refined their into one of solidarity and unity in a time of global turbulence. Their unique blend o afro-fusion has earned praise from tastemakers including Gilles Peterson, Jamz Supernova and Craig Charles on BBC Radio 6, plus BBC Introducing and Jazz FM. They’ve also been championed by major publications including Jazzwise and Songlines, and had their songs included in major editorial playlists across DSPs.
