Ben Wendel / Nate Wood / Shane Endsley / Adam Benjamin

Over the course of nearly 20 years, the group Kneebody, described as “the Brecker Brothers of the 21st century” by Jazz Magazine, has been a key pioneer of what everyone calls “the New Jazz Scene.” Defying classification, drawing inspiration from influences such as 1960s free bop, 1970s jazz rock, 1990s hip-hop, and post-millennial indie rock, all infused with a post-minimalist classical sensibility, Kneebody, an all-star band on the New York scene, combines unbridled rock energy and high-level playing with meticulous composition and a taste for unlimited improvisation.

NEW ALBUM
REACH
(GrounUp Music) – April 2025

Their new album Reach will be released in April 2025 on GroundUP Music, Michael League & Snarky Puppy’s label. This is the band’s latest project as a quartet, featuring keyboardist Adam Benjamin, trumpeter Shane Endsley, saxophonist Ben Wendel, and the dynamic Nate Wood, who plays both bass and drums. Reach showcases Kneebody’s continued evolution, pushing the boundaries of genre while delivering their signature blend of complex composition and raw energy.
Throughout their career, Kneebody has continually innovated, earning a Grammy Award nomination for their 2009 collaboration with Theo Bleckmann on 12 Songs of Charles Ives. They have released a series of boundary-pushing albums, from The Line (2013) on Concord Records to Kneedelus (2015), a groundbreaking collaboration with electronic artist Daedelus on Flying Lotus’ Brainfeeder label. Their discography also includes Anti-Hero (2017, Motéma Music), By Fire (2019), and Chapters (2019), their first full-length album as a quartet, which features collaborations with Becca Stevens, Gretchen Parlato, Michael Mayo, Gerald Clayton, and Josh Dion.
With Reach, Kneebody marks a new stage in its development and asserts itself as a quartet at the forefront of modern creative music. As they prepare to take their new music on the road, the band is committed to an electrifying tour filled with unpredictable energy, tight interaction, and high-flying musical risk-taking.
